Summer in the UK 2011

The words “summer in the UK” bring up for us images of amazing festivals, incredible bands, lazy days gallivanting in fields, sun and of course rain and wellies! Here at FairTunes HQ we gathered the wellies and the sun hats and ventured out into the English country side for a summer of profile raising for our cause. We put on a night of live entertainment at Glastonbury Festival – including a live streamed dance off with Colombia, hosted daily radio shows at Secret Garden Party and interviewed artists at One Love Festival. We also launched our summer playlist available for download for a donation, and a new limited edition T shirt. Phew!

FairTunes once again featured at The Common who whose theme was sumptuous Latino playground filled with the delights of a vibrant world of decadence! FairTunes hosted in the 800 capacity Zona Bassline tent on Sunday.

Kicking everything off was a live streamed dance off with Colombia! Our line up included Mano De Dios,Planet Gnawa and the incredible Dizraeli & The Small Gods who may have been the last band to play on the whole site for the 2011 festival and still pulled in a huge crowd! Watch clips from some of their performances on our videos.

In 2011 the Gardeners hosted their first on site radio station and resident FairTunes presenter Kary Stewart presented daily shows. Guests included speakers from the Rebellion Bunker and One Taste stages plus no less than Leftfield, Blondie and Martha Reeves! Listen to the podcasts.

FairTunes assisted with a small live stage and produced podcasts of the festival including an interview with Scottish rage legend Ruby Alba. Take a listen.
