Launch Party

On a damp, autumnal evening in October 2009, FairTunes held an official launch party at the Monarch Pub in Camden.

Chandrasonic of band Asian Dub Foundation, who is known for his vociferous support for human rights around the world, hosted the event and spoke about the importance of projects such as FairTunes and the far reaching impact they can have on disadvantaged communities.

FairTunes director Keri Elmsly also spoke at length about our mission and showcased a film about our pilot project in Bogotá in early 2009.

The night’s entertainment included live performances by Soul of Man, Atomic Hooligan, Zashiki Warishi and emerging artists Crystal Fighters. Watch the YouTube videos of all the bands playing live and of Chandra’s speech. You can also see photos of the night.

The night was a massive success and the large turnout included amongst others many representatives from the Latin American music community, Roundhouse officials and the Colombian Cultural Attaché. Further thanks goes to all the volunteers on the night, the Monarch Pub and John Rattagan of restaurantBuen Ayre. A massive thanks also goes out to all of the acts that helped to make the event so memorable.
